topless beaches

are the beaches topless in Ixtapa?

GP Oct 17th, 2002 06:36 AM

Mary

I just returned from 5 days in Ixtapa. The long beach in front of all the resorts is not topless. You might find a secluded beach to the north or south that might be topless. Not many Americans down there at this time of year mostly Mexicans on vacation and I think that they are more conservative.

You might want to ask that question here http://www.zihuatanejo.net/wwwboard/ or use the search function.

No.

For topless beaches you'd want to go to a more European-influenced destination like the beaches on the Caribbean side.

The Pacific Coast is very "Mexican" and therefore Catholic/conservative. Please be aware of & respectful to the culture you are visiting... and keep your top on!

mr. respect- has it occurred to you that I am asking because it would be offensive to me! We have heard a lot of stories and we were wondering if they are true so we thought we would ask so we knew what we were getting into.

Well actually Mary, it's ms respect... and no the thought never occurred to me that someone (two people no less) would post the question in the way you did hoping the answer would be negative.

So back to your question, topless beaches are a rarity anywhere on the west coast of Mexico, that you would have to go out of your way to find (i.e., Zipolite).

I have no idea where or what you would have heard that are "a lot of stories" to the contrary.
Around Tulum one can go buff, also Zipolite. I've heard topless is OK in Playa del Carmen (but that one I don't know). enjoy

eric, actually the original poster wants a beach with NO topless sunbathing ;-) it is offensive to her.

nice tits Oct 25th, 2002 02:16 AM

yes they are, and you can go topless at any beach in Mexico... it is perfectly legal and lots of folks do and lots don't. I do all the time.

Just a comment. I realy belive you should respect the culture where you are. If local folks go topless by all means do so. On the other hand when I go to Huatulco in mid summer and Mexicans are on break on local beaches there is no topless and swim suits are much more conservative. "Nice tits" would get hauled to jail. Public nudity is not legal in Mexico, but tolerated in some places. Depending on where you are- "when in Rome......"

just not true Oct 25th, 2002 09:35 AM

to the poster who advises you "can go topless at any beach in Mexico" and that "lots of folks do it"...

I have spent literally months and months on the downtown beach in Puerto Vallarta and have NEVER seen ANYone topless.
