Top 3 or 4 places to see in Costa Rica
We'll be spending a total of 5 days in CR. Have the teen with us. The more I read abt CR the more difficult it is to decide what to visit and what not to, since everything sounds great.
So can those who know please suggest top 3 or 4 places we must visit? We are not great atheletes and not water people either (no beaches or involved water sports). Like middle age stuff such as mild hiking, mild rafting, may be the canopy tours, h.b riding etc. Love nature gaping

Given the information you have shared, you should consider:
1. Arenal Volcano area--lots to do here, not to mention lava flow should you get a view unobstructed by clouds!
2. Fly straight to Osa Peninsula for 3-4 nights at someplace like Bosque del Cabo. Tons of wildlife and hiking trails--right in the middle of the rainforest. The cabinas sit upon a bluff high above the Golfo Dulce. You can hike down to the beaches if you'd like. They'll pack you a great lunch.
3. Monteverde (cloud forest)
With a total of 5 days, you really can't do 3-4 places. You don't have enough time and the transfers are costly when it comes to your time. You COULD combine 2 nights of Monteverde Cloud Forest with 2 nights Arenal, but you really wouldn't be doing justice to either. Good luck! It IS hard to choose--all of it is just fascinating!

Well, I can't agree more with shillmac recommendations - Arenal volcano is a great is a great volcano to see.
I would add that For me best experience in CR was at Lands in love cloud forest – it's a great place and seems to have all you're looking for - mild hiking, mild rafting, exciting canopy tours, horse back riding, nice jacuzzi and tasty healthy food.
I'd also recommend on Manuel Antonio for you, there's a nice national park around there and a good Hotel called hptel California.
