Tips fpr Cabo

I have not been to Cabo and we are going with two other couples in October. We have rented an condo from a friend so we are set there. The friend who goes every year has recommended we arrange car service through the condo to avoid hassles, so I am sure we will do that.

I know deep sea fishing will be on the menu and we have seen some interesting kayak/snorkel tours that we would also enjoy.

Does anyone have tours or outfitters they have used and can recommend?
Anything we shouldn't miss or shouldn't do? Tourist scams to look out for?

We are all late 40s/early 50s and just want to relax, have some drinks at the pool and see a little sea life. I know the beaches there are not great for swimming and that's OK (I like the beach but prefer the pool).

Restaurants or bars that are good? I am guessing seafood is the thing to try on the menus....any suggestions or ideas are welcome.

We went to Cabo for the first time in December, 2012. We have been to the Caribbean side of Mexico x 10.

I used this company for our tours. They also provide tours in Cancun, Cozumel and Playa del Carmen so I have used them before with no problems.

We stayed in the Marina and did the AI thing at the Marina Fiesta. Though the AI restaurants included are available to the public. We loved being so close to most everything and could walk. We don't like renting cars on vacation.

I have a full trip report with restaurant, bar and activity details with a picture link at:

<Tourist scams to look out for?>
Just don't talk to any of the timeshare sales people. They'll be the really friendly ones (at the airport, along the main boulevard, possibly at your resort). Just don't.

Actually Medano Beach is pretty nice and it's swimmable if you like. It's lined with beach bars and restaurants of all different atmospheres (wild spring break, more quiet laid back, etc.) where you can get use of a nice set up of umbrella, lounger or beach chair, table, waiter service, restrooms, for the price of food/drinks.

Restaurants I liked Maros Shrimp House, Misiones de Kino, Gordo Lele's, Los Claros. The first two for dinner, the second two for lunch-time tacos. The Office on Medano was nice for breakfast (not cheap but view to die for).

Where exactly is the condo. This will make a big difference if you should rent a car or just rely on the bus and taxis.

For a snorkel trip, we have used Pez Gato. Very fun! October will be very warm and humid. But nice for snorkeling. Depending when you are there, the big Bisbee Marlin Tournament may be going on. Prime fishing season.

As others mentioned, watch out for time share sharks. They are EVERYWHERE, even at the grocery store.

We are staying at Pueblo Bonito that looks like it is right in CSL (Predio Paraiso Escondido Cabo San Lucas Baja California Sur 23450, Mexico).

Good info on the time share sales people-I can be firm and rude when I need to. Will have to coach my husband who isn't as likely to cut people off.

I believe the Marlin tournament is the week after we will be there. I hope someone catches one when we got deep sea fishing. My husband would die to see one.

Thoughts on scopalamine patches for fishing trips?

We stay at Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach., which is on the Pacific side. We love it! It is a little ways from town but they have a shuttle bus that goes to their sister resorts, Rose and Blanco, on Medano Beach. We will go and spend at least one day at the beach and pool at Blanco. We enjoy the beach bar called Tabascos, down by the Las Cascadas resort.
