Tips for brazil and argentina?

Hi hi,

I and my friends will arrive in Rio around 23. january. When we arrive in Rio we will try to fly straight to Buenos Aires. We are thinking about staying one week in BA and then take bus from BA to Igazu falls, stay there for 1-2 days and from there go to Rio/Brazil. We are going spend 3-4 weeks in brazil and finish our stay in Brazil at the Carnival. There are few questions that I like to ask, and it would be great if some of you could answer them:
1) Do you know what is the cheapest airline that fly from Rio to Buenos Aires?
2) Do you know what it cost to take a bus from BA to Igazu, and from Igazu to Rio?
3) Are some places in Argentina that you would recommend to see, especially if it is on the way from BA to Igazu falls.
4) If we are planning travelling in Brazil for 3 weeks, what places would you suggest for us to go/see if we would only travel with bus.

Thank you very much, each advice would be really appreciated;)

Best regards from iceland,
dadio

Went to BA last Dec to Jan and had a blast. Iguazu is amazing, breathtaking and a must see. The bus trip I heard was HELL. It takes forever, unreliable and not the cleanest. We flew from BA to Iguazu on LAN pretty cheaply and it was fast. Got tickets thru a local agent recommended on tripadvisor.com You can stay cheaply in Puerto Iguazu and take a shuttle to the park. The town has some great restaurants and bars.

Hello Dadio , I live in Rio , Brasil and I am planning a trip to Argentina next January ..
Some informations for you. Aerolineas Argentinas have good prices for internal trips in Argentina to whom use Aerolineas to arrive and departure , so I think you should try aerolineas to do Rio > Buenos Aires => Iguazy Falls => Buenos Aires => Rio
Or try to make something diferent nad probably more confortable and less expansive ...
The prices of some brazilian airlines to Buenos Aires are around around 300/ 350 US$ ...
But maybe you should try a package of ticket planes + hotels what usually is cheaper and the agencys here have a lot ...
And instead of going to Iguazu Falls via Argentina Side you can go via Brasil ... Lot of Travel Agencies offers packages of ticket plane + hotel ( 3 dias )+ transfers in Uguazy fall for around 600 reais ... less than 300 US$

Well If you want I can put you in contact with my travel agent that can give you more accuarate information ...
About what to see in 3-4 weeks in Brasil it depends what you like and your budget .. I would be glad in give you some tips ... just email me [email protected]

Hi,

1) Have a look at Gol airlines (www.voegol.com.br) - they are a low fare airline and they fly from Rio to B.Aires (not a direct flight, though)
2) It is impossible to go from Iguazu to Rio by bus. It is over a day journey and I strongly recomend that you don't even try. Have no idea how far from BA Iguazu is, but I suspect it is a looong bus ride.
3)I like the south very much (Patagonia region) but it is not exactly on the way to Iguazu...apart from that, appologies but can't help much since I've never done the BA-Iguazu route (my departure point was Brazil).
4)Brazil is a very large country so have in mind that we are talking about LONG bus rides (by long I mean over 20 hours). Apart from that, the roads are usually in not the best condition so before making up your mind on the best way to travel, consult airline fares. Having said that, if you and your friend are really on an adventurous mood, I'd suggest you go from Rio to the North-east. The north east is the most beautiful coast in Brazil in my opinion (I'm brazilian, I know what I'm talking about!)and you could start your trip from Rio and stop on several different cities beaches and finish your trip in Salvador / Bahia where the best carnival in Brazil is. I know you prob heard a lot ab real but trust me - Carnival in Rio is expensive and it is for tourists only. Brazilians go to Salvador for Carnival (plus it is free). My suggested route would be Rio - Vitoria (Espirito Santo) - and the south of Bahia until you reach Salvador (Itacare, Barra Grande, Ilheus, Porto Seguro). Beaches are gorgeous, places are a lot less touristic (and as a consequence less expensive) and I'm sure you'll have a good time....
Hope this helps!

cheers,
Juliana.

Hello again,

Thank you very much, Juliana, Claudia and Jones. Everything helps us, so it's very good to hear this from you.
I know that the bus rides are very long, but the fact is that they are much much cheaper and probably we will stop at other towns on our way, and stay there mabey for 1 day or 2, so we'll not sitting in a bus for 20 hours straight. It could be HELL :) but I thinks it worth a try and good experience.
This stay in brazil and argentina are just 2 places of 16 on our route around the world and that means we need to watch our budget and therefore take bus instead of plane, when we're in a country.
Juliana I will look at the north-east better, sounds very interesting, and claudia, I'll probably contact you:)

Thanks again!

dadio
