Tile and Pottery of Dolores Hidalgo Questions

Trying to learn more about the pottery and tile near Dolores Hidalgo. Is there a website that shows pictures of the tile and pottery? Would it be best to visit on our way from San Miguel to Guanajuato? How long of a trip would that be? How long of a day would it be leaving from and returning to San Miguel? Is the road quite curving? My daughter gets car sick and wondered how this trip would be for her. Also, is there a recommend tour company or driver?

Thank You!

Hola Gem,
The best (and most expensive) is at www.gorkypottery.com just East of Guanajuato.
Do a google: Talavera (or majolica) to get a look at all including the better stuff from Puebla.
Most here think the Talavera in Sta. Rosa (mountain roads) between Dolores Hidalgo and Guanajuato offers better quality for less money than that in DH.
The ice cream in El Jardin in DH is worth the short trip.
All the tour companies have 1/2 day or personalized trips with stops in Atatonilco. DH is only 40+ km.

Would it be best to shop for pottery when we are traveling from San Miguel to Guanajuato or as a day trip from San Miguel? Is the road super curvy?

Both roads from Gto. to SMdA are mountain roads, but I have driven the more direct many times without problems.
The road from DH to Sta. Rosa to Gto. is pretty tough if you are not driving.
Used to race BMWs and now drive a WRX here, so I have no problems.

Do you think that it would it be an easier trip to see the pottery, for a child that gets car sick, to go as a day trip from San Miguel?

or a day trip from Guanajuato?

To DH from SMdA; to Gorky or Sta. Rosa probably from Guanajuato, but dos o tres.
