Tijuana Safety in 2015?

Hi. I know this has been asked a few times, but I'm wondering if you can give me the lay of the land in 2015? Is it safe to travel to Tijuana and stick to the main tourist areas? Much appreciated.

I know of no "Tourist" who has been harmed in TJ.
Now why one would go is up for question. It certainly is not a typical Mexican community.

I would ask the same question. I think it's safe enough if you have common sense and don't go looking for trouble. But WHY Tijuana?

I've been to Tijuana quite a few times over the last several years (although it's been a couple of years since my last visit). I went because I had friends who lived there. It didn't feel particularly unsafe but I would reiterate the questions Stewbear and suze asked - why do you want to go there? Absent visiting friends, I wouldn't go. I hate to say that because the businesses there have taken quite a hit over the years since the fears about drug violence have kept a lot of Americans from going. But I don't really see why you would go there as a tourist, unless maybe you are using it to go further south and visit Ensenada and/or the wineries.

I've been reading quite a bit about restaurants in TJ lately - I haven't been down there, but apparently there is somewhat of a restaurant revolution going on there.
