Thinking of driving 239 in Costa Rica. Advice Please?

We have plenty of time to get from Parrita to San Jose and are thinking of taking 239. We can't find if the road is paved and what condition it is in. Does anyone have any information that could help me ASAP? How long will it take? Thanks!

Haven't driven it in years, so I can't answer your question directly. However, when you get to Costa Rica, don't ask anybody about or ask for directions to "the 239." Hardly anyone knows or uses the highway numbers, and all you'll get is a blank stare. :)

Thanks Jeff, do you know what it is called?

You could call it the Carretera Antigua via Puriscal, or if you're talking to an English speaker, the old highway via Puriscal.

FYI, We abandoned the idea. It seems like only part is paved and estimated time to drive was 4 hours. We took 34 to 27 and made it in 2 hours.
