Thinking about visiting Costa Rica in June ...need advice please!

HI eveyone,

I will be visiting New York in June this year and am thinking about visiting Costa Rica for about 10 days.

As an older person travelling alone I think an organised tour would probably be best, as I do not want to drive, and I am looking for something reasonably priced.....does anyone have any suggestions on who to use?

I am more interested in rainforests, volcanoes etc than beaches, can take short not too strenuous walks, but unable to hike or trek.

Also I would appreciate recommendadtions for a clean, and safe, but not too expensive hotel in San Jose.

Thanks

www.lovecostarica.com Pat good reviews
www.odysseytourscr.com Al Diego great locals
www.tauck.com best more upscale tours
www.costaricaexpeditions.com more $ usually
www.caravan.com more budget ok but prefer self guiding
Expect rain in the afternoons in "Green" season.

Happy Planning!

Escazu is the safest walkable SJ area for Hotels costaverdeinn.com casabellarita.com (my fav B&B) or
The Alta Hotel all pretty cheap and nice.
mybeaconescazu.com a bit more but worth it.

I would contact Pat Hewitt at http://www.lovecostarica.com/ He posts here once in a while. He'd probably be best to organize and arrange to your needs, rather than a larger impersonal company with set tours.

Casa Bella Rita is not in SJ, but nearby. It's a delightful b&b with very gracious owners, and it's very reasonable. For a nominal fee, they will even cook you a wonderful, gourmet dinner ($15-20pp). Steve even offered to take us to the airport at no charge (although I don;t believe he always does this, it just depends upon his schedule).
