Things To Do in Punta Mita?
 

We'll soon be spending a week in Punta Mita, and I'm looking for information on things to do in the area. <BR><BR>I know it's a small town, so I'm thinking along the lines of local art and handicrafts, markets, festivals, music, etc. Essentially looking for interesting ways of experiencing the local culture.<BR><BR>Thanks in advance for any suggestions!<BR>

I think Dan is probably right. I would recommend day trips. I'm sure it's easy to take a bus to Sayulita or San Pancho (aka San Francisco).

Another in agreement with the above... There was/is a tiny village that was &quot;relocated&quot; when Four Seasons took over Punta Mita. You can find nice beaches nearby but for the rest of your list (art, markets, music, fesitvals) you'll need to get yourself either back to Puerto Vallarta, Bucerias, or futher north to maybe Sayulita or San Blas.

I think you have picked the wrong place to experience much in the way of local culture.

Thanks for your feedback and suggestions! We'll be spending most of our time on the beach, for which I think Punta Mita will be perfect. I had done some research on my own before posting this question, but I wasn't finding anything about things to do in town. Had hoped it was just that the info wasn't available online, but I guess that's not it...<BR><BR>Anyway, I appreciate the suggestions of nearby towns to visit. One last question, if we were going to visit only 1 of the nearby towns (in addition to Puerto Vallarta itself), which one would you most recommend based on my interests?<BR><BR>Thanks again!

We spent several days at Punta Mita and agree that the beach is great. There is a small town right outside the gates that is where the people who were in the way of the Four Seasons development were put. It is not a lovely place, but there are several restaurants on the beach that have fresh seafood and great prices(especially compared to the 4 seasons!). The bay is shallow there and people enjoy boogie boarding etc. We drove to Sayulita for a day and enjoyed it--there are open air restaurants on the beach that are very good. The larger restaurant that was recommended was not open--can't remember the name. There is a frequent poster on this board who spent a week in Sayulita in a rental and could give much more information. Hopefully she will see this when she returns from a current trip. Would love to hear about your experiences when you return!
