Taxi from Playa del Carmen to Tulum?

Has anyone taken a taxi from PdC to Tulum? How long does it take? What does it cost?

I've only rented a car. I think Taxi would be pretty expensive. It's only about an hour drive. I think a bus would be more economical.

Just came back from 2 wks in Akumal...taxi should be about $40(400 pesos). Negotiate price beforehand, there are standard rates between locations, but you have to know what they are. Collectivos(White vans) are an easy way to get up and down the highway, will cost you a couple of bucks and easy to catch in either place.

WOW! That's expensive. I didn't think Playa del Carmen was that far from Tulum. How far is it?
How long will it take in the taxi?

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it's about 45 minutes between Tulum and Playa Del Carmen.

Yeah...it's about 45 minutes.

Just dug out an older (few years old) Riviera Maya map from cancunmap.com....says PDC to Tulum is 345pesos. So $40usd should be about right.

Alternatively you could travel like the locals, we used a colectivo to get down to Tulum, about $2 per person each direction. Or there's also a bus that goes from PDC.
