Can you give me an idea as to how much to add to the price of a room in BA with the taxes?
VAT is 21% and then is there a service charge on top of that too?????

When you ask for the cost of a hotel room in BA, they have to tell you whether or not the 21% VAT is included. No service charge.

I am looking at a hotel in El Calafate that quotes rates with and without the VAT. Who has to pay the VAT? I am hoping it is not for people who don't live in Argentina, but it is probably the opposite!

mstraveler, thankfully I don't know much about taxes, but I know the guest has to pay for the VAT and I believe there is NO way to get it back. On the other hand, if you shop in certain touristy places in BA, it IS possible to get back most of the VAT.
