tango show

We're going to be in Buenos Aires next week and were just planning to purchase tickets to a tango show when we get there. From what I've read on this board, it sounds like Esquina Carlos would be a good one to attend.
Can someone tell me: (1) if it is easy to purchase your tickets when we get there and (2) if we are arranging this ourselves, although we can call a radio taxi from our hotel to get to the show, it is safe to try to catch a taxi once we leave the tango show? i've read several things on this board that make me a bit leary about just catching a cab on the street.
Thank you in advance!

There are two extremely good but different tango shows in BsAs:

The Esquina de Carlos Gardel is devoted exclusively to tango dancers and tango music. Service is very good, and the food not bad for a dinner show. Phone In Buenos Aires phone 4867-6363 for reservations.

The other excellent show is at Sr. Tango, which is a stage production that includes tango and other forms of ethnic dance found in Argentina. Food and service are as above. phone 4303-0231.

Both shows take credit cards and the price includes rt transport from your hotel...so catching a cab is unnecessary.

If you leave early, just ask someone in the restaurant to phone a cab for you. Shouldn't take more than 5-10 minutes for a cab to pick you up.

Bring a coat. It is winter in Buenos Aires. And Enjoy!!!!

ttt. Is there somewhere the locals may go that may be better than the tourist packaged deals ? Is there for instance a top restaurant(s) with a dance floor where the locals may practice the Art of Tango ?

Esquina Carlos Gardel is good
If there is no place you can try the best in my opinion: Piazzolla.
I am not a tango fan but when i went i enjoyed it enormously. From the very old Tango to the new one composed by Piazzolla in France.
Lots of luck

I went to both shows in June.

Two thumbs up for Señor Tango, impressive Broadway style tango show.

I my modest opinion Carlos Gardel show was boring.

went to Sr. Tango last December, was good, liked it at the time, in retrospect consider it too glitzy and touristy; wish I had been to a small and intimate and "true" show. Sr tango had more than Tango (including a male fantasy dance with girls getting friendly with each other.)
