Tamarindo or Jaco or somewhere else Fun and Hip?
10 of us ages 25-35 are travelling to the Pacific Coast in April. We have found affordable houses in Jaco and Tamarindo that can house all of us. We do not want to rent cars. We want to be able to feel away from it all by staying in a house but also want a fun hip town. Any suggestions? Thanx!

Tamarindo is a lot of fun. Lot of bars, restaurants and places to sign up for day trips w/transportation included. How far from the beach is the house you are looking at in Tamarindo? Many are up on the hill where you will have privacy. Could actually be a steep, long walk to town and back. Might be worth checking into so you can plan to rent scooters or something to get back and forth.

Went to Jaco and found that there were some great places to surf if your into that? Restaurants, bars, music, vendors. This is the place if your wanting to rely on walking or taking bus. Not to far away to head into Quepos/Manuel Antonio. (many restaurant/bars playing music late!!!) Oh, you will definatley feel like your "away from it all"! Have a great time, meet lots of great, unique people. Oh and if you really want to make a journey, head over to the Carribean/Puerto Viejo. You'll defninately feel like your away. Pura Vida!!

The only place Ive ever been in costa rica is jaco and I honestly hated it. Im going again soon and have been on here trying to decide where to go but i will avoid jaco at all costs. Tamarindo sounds like what you are looking for and its supposed to be pretty as well. Jaco was a hole, at least to me.
