Tamarindo CR = best for us?

My first post here, so I appreciate your help. My wife, adult daughter, and I are planning 7 or 8 days in CR in late November in and out of Liberia, our first time there.

Do you recommend T. Beach? Is it better than Flamingo and others? We are hardly the party hardy crowd, but I like the selection of restaurants, activities, proximity to the airport, etc.

Can we use T. Beach as our base and take day trips? Where?

Thanks.

Hello!!, welcome to Costa Rica since now!, well the best option on my opinion would be, Tamarindo beach, Tamarindo is 50min from the airport, there are a lot of activities that you can do such as: Horseback riding, sailing, hiking, very close from there zip line and you can do a tour to "El rincon de la vieja" if you have further question about such as places to go, activities, money or Tours just let me know and I will help

Regards!

Dennis,
Thanks. OK, so exactly where should we stay? We want to be near the beach -- short walk is fine.

I want to get a condo through VRBO that has access to the Langosta Beach Club (which I assume you recommend)but read several reviews saying NOT to be on that road (152?) because of the noise -- is that a problem? So is Ibis building and others out?

Choices so far: Tamarindo Preserve area, Peninsula high rise, Panilla GC area.

I find Tamarindo crowded and noisy, and the beach seems windy (but I'm judging on only two visits). An option is Flamingo, which is lovely (nicer water, I think; Tamarindo is shallow forever), more protected, and close to several towns. Not as much variety in dining in town as in Tamarindo, but there are many nearby towns. Just a less frenetic atmosphere, in my opinion. http://www.tripadvisor.com/Tourism-g...Vacations.html

Hello Dirkn! I'm not familiar with those other properties, what I do recommend is Hotel Capitan Suizo, the environment is very serene and you're right in front of the beach. The setting is very nice, you would definitely feel you're in paradise for sure. ! If more doubts come, just let me know !

Kind Regards!!

Dennis and sylvia, Thanks. I looked into Flamingo but since we are vegetarians, I'm afraid that there won't be enough places to eat at.

How loud/touristy is Tamarindo any way?

I would love to find a high end, ocean front condo/villa in Tamarindo or similar area. I had looked at the Suizo but with 3 adults, thought that would be too small.

Looking at VRBO now, but if you could suggest a particular building that works for us, I'd love to hear about it.

Just looked at Papagayo area, but the Four Seasons was outrageous. Hyatt's Andaz Hotel and El Mangroove looked good.

Lastly, if we can go to one other place in this part of CR, what should it be -- Monteverde? Arenal? Other?

Your choices listed were a good spread. Ibis, Preserve area et al, all good high end choices. Look at Crystal sands also, on the beach in Langosta, very very nice apartments.
Ibis might be a little noisy if you are on the street side but i am sure the other side is much quieter.
There is a decent resource if you have an iphone.

It is map linked so you can see where stuff is located in relationship to the beach
