Dressing up for me in CA is my sarong with a colorful, wicking tee, some beads and my flipflops. For footwear I just pack my beloved Keens and the flipflops and call it good, though hiking boots are a must if you'll actually be trekking. I like to take a lightweight full-zip fleece jacket and neoprene socks for higher altitude stuff. I used to pack a light goretex jacket, too, but now I have a nifty softshell that's waterproof. I don't mind rinsing laundry out by hand and figure no one cares if I wear the same pants most days so packing for 3 or 4 days works for me even when I'll be traveling 3 or 4 weeks. We each take a book and trade when we're ready; it's fun to find book exchanges or scrounge as we go. I razor out the chapters I need and don't even pack a whole guide book.

Have a great trip, no matter what you decide to pack along!

So hopefulist...

what are the packing light websites?

I am hopeless because I hate being cold and I think I need things for each day even though I end up wearing the same thing most days.

Here you go:

If you have a light-weight, dark, full-zip fleece jacket (like a liner) and a light rain coat (or a combined soft-shell like my Christmas present to myself), a long-sleeved shirt, and long pants (even light-weight ones) you'll be FINE. You're traveling in the wrong crowd, in my opinion, if anyone cares that you're wearing the same clothes over and over. If they're filthy or smell bad, wash them, otherwise keep wearing! You can do it! I know you can!

Happy trails...

Oh, I know I can do it. I DO do it. But I always think I need more than I have and I'm never warm enough.

I just hit the gap sale and bought a few long pairs of cotton pants and long sleeved t-shirts so I feel better than what I was planning. I throw in a casual skirt if i does get warm

We're back. Had a really great time with fabulous weather. Will post a quick recap later. We brought back some sinus infection so typing without the room spinning is a bit of a challenge.

Thanks to all who offered suggestions. They were much appreciated.

Welcome back! Can't wait to hear all about it when you're feeling up to the challenge.

The flight probably didn't help either. Can't wait to hear how you made out!
