TACA canceling several CR flights
 
Just a heads up for any who may have booked TACA via LA or NY.

Oof. They cancelled the flights we use every time we've flown there.

There was some interesting information on Tripadvisor about them dropping San Jose/Alajuela as a hub.

They also intend to cancel the flight to Lima, Peru.

Looks like Delta is adding flights from LAX to San jose effective July 1.

With the takeover by Avianca, it doesn't surprise me that they can't maintain hubs so close together in El Salvador, Colombia, and Costa Rica. Plus, Taca has been frustrated for years at the snail pace of construction at SJO. In the meantime, SAL kept getting bigger and better, which allowed Taca to expand its operations there. When push came to shove, of course, the airline's loyalties were going to be with El Salvador over Costa Rica. The tourism industry is asking the Costa Rican government to "do something" about this, but, as far as I'm concerned, the Costa Rican government contributed to the problem.
