TACA Airlines
I found a great rate on business class on TACA airlines for next April from SFO-SJO (only about $200 more than economy on AA). The times work for us, we can earn UA miles (we are premier flyers with them) but don't know anything about the airline. I know the planes are Airbuses (not my favorite) but has anyone flown them? I am not expecting a bus class like the main airlines fly internationally but would love to hear from anyone who has flown them, especially business.

I'll be flying TACA to SJO for the first time in about 3 weeks...I'll let you know then. I heard plenty of good things about them on these boards before I booked...I'm sure you'll here similar things.

I flew TACA in business class LAX to SJO. In my opinion, they are better than UA.

RBCal, thanks for the positive feedback. I was starting to get worried when a well-traveled friend said he would NEVER fly on a Latin American carrier! Airwayvz, would love to hear your experience when you get back.

We've flown them on our 3 trips to CR & were pleased. I know they tend to overbook by a lot of passengers so make sure you check in early so you're not bumped. They also don't seem to adhere to the seating assignments. We're a family of 6 & even though I had preselected seats we wound up being scattered throughout the plane on
all of our trips. We were ok with that though..it was all part of our adventure. |
We've flown TACA, Houston to Honduras. They were quite nice - on time, luggage arrived with the flight, o.k. food, friendly staff. Hey....you don't get much with any airline these days.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but was looking for any updated info from people who have flown TACA lately. I have had our seat assignments in business change several times and now they have disappear completely so am a little worried. They reassure me we have our business seats but it concerns me that I don't see seat assigments in our itineraries online (they recently changed the website).
|
I also had that "seat assignment disappearing act" happen with TACA. I called and they assured me it was o.k. -- which it was. Their computer system is a little weird. Any time there is even the slightest schedule change (5 or 10 minutes) to the flight, the system dumps out all the stored info until someone goes in and requests an update. The seat assignment is really gone, it just doesn't show up in the record for a while. As soon as I phoned, they did the update and the seat assignments popped back. Its strange and a bit nerve racking, but everything worked out fine in the end. Any time the res looks out of whack, just call them for a refresh.

Ooops! Meant to say "the seat assignment ISN'T really gone". Sorry...typo!
|
Thanks - that makes me feel better. I travel a lot and always keep on top of my itineraries and this is the only airline where they keep "disappearing".
