Lots of reviews here

Personally I wouldn't want to stay there because the property is overloaded with folks coming to use the hot springs. We thought about it, but are glad we picked the Lost Iguana.

The ONLY advantage to staying there is included admission to the hot springs, which, in my opinion, are a "don't miss". They are beautiful, and the mornings are calm and peaceful before the crowds arrive. The Tabacon Grand Spa is excellent. We always choose to stay elsewhere, but generally bite the bullet for the admission. OR you go to Eco Thermales (gets great reviews) and still go into Tabacon to use the spa without paying the springs prices. . .the spa is a separate entity.

Have stayed there
Marvelous volcano view rooms are the big draw. Watch and hear red lava crackling down the slopes interspersed with howler monkey screams from your hotel room. A totally unique experience. Cheap spa services massage marginal food and service but the experience was amazing... |
We stayed there last year and felt it was just OK....it was expensive compared to the other hotels in the area. As shillmac says, really the only reason to stay there is the included admission to the hot springs. That does make the price more worthwhile. If you planned to go to their hot springs more than once or twice during your visit, than maybe it would be worth the money. However, I found their rooms to be just ok. While they were nice enough and the bathrooms, probably nicer than many in the area, they weren't much nicer than the average hotel room in the US. Not worth what you pay for a night there. Their food is very overpriced and breakfast is not included in the room rate where many of the hotels in the area do include it. The hot springs are not right on the property though, so actually you don't get crowds coming into the actual hotel, so we didn't find the resort itself actually crowded while we were there. You have to take a shuttle or walk down a path and across the road to get to the springs. I think there may be nicer places and certainly better places for the value to stay. We aren't staying there again this next trip. We actually were very underwhelmed by the resort itself.
However, we loved the hot springs themselves and would go back to them in a second. They were absolutely gorgeous. |
