Tabacon Grand Spa makes the Travel & Leisure "list" again
For the spa-goers among us:
Although Tabacon Hot Springs is a pricey option (albiet gorgeous) unless you stay at Tabacon Resort, the spa is a separate entity, and no one has to pay for the hot springs in order to go in and enjoy this magnificent spa, set in the midst of the springs.
In the latest T&L publication, Tabacon was #6 among the Top Ten Spas in Mexico, Central, and South America. I've been twice. It isn't cheap, but the services are outstanding. Not a bad way to spend a morning. Go an hour or so before your appt. time to fully appreciate and enjoy the relaxation offered there!

Weeellll, no. I got away with it once. They let me into the springs a couple hours early, so I enjoyed the springs for a time before I headed into the spa. Last time, I tried to cop some time at the springs and didn't have any luck. It's those bracelets that they look for. The ones you pay a small fortune for.
They really are operated totally separate. Entrance into one is by appt; the other by bank loan. No crossover.
That said, I do think that with a little scheming, one might beat the system--until someone notices you're not wearing a bracelet. I'm not sure just how that might be "managed". I do know it was weird last time, though, just marching right through the springs straight to the spa and back out again 3-4 hours later. It sure seemed like I should be hanging out!

have stayed at www.tabacon.com thought it was very good
Special 4 nights for 3 packages August 20th to December 19th,
2009 $940 a saving of $725 so $235/nt including free
all day hot springs admissions($70) spa credits etc.
Pretty good deal...thought the spa pretty cheap $35 massage
though a little weak not ready for prime time on some
of the treatments...
Overall liked it a lot especially the volcano view rooms.

Uh, no, Quovadis, not this spa. The massages generally run $100 and up. It isn't cheap, but it's good. It is already "ready for prime time" apparently or it wouldn't have been in the T&L Top Ten list for the past 3 years. Hence my original post.
