Swimming in Argentina

hi, as we will be in Argentina during the summer ( january) i wonder if anyone can recommend a beach or lake area that is not major resort style w/ huge hotels.

thanks

thanks

A/D: you don't need to swim to go to the beach. Verdad? LOL!!

Every beach will be crowded during January.

Ask our friend Google about Pinamar.

Have a great time in our country.

I am just guessing but maybe Tigre? at least there you can go out on a boat :)

AndrewDavid Sep 4th, 2007 09:00 PM

thanks Scarlett and avrooster, I will google Pinamar. We thought of taking a boat out from Tigre, but still wanting a quiet lake or beach for a refreshing swim and rest for a day or 2 of our time in Argentina

There are many beaches near Buenos Aires, like Pinamar, Mar del Plata, Carilo, and even Punta del Este in Uruguay. But, all of them will be crowded in January since itīs the month in which all Argentinians take their vacation to go to the beach. So you should think of reserving in advance for any of those places.
You can also go to hotel swimming pools, like the ones in the Sheraton hotel or Hyatt Hotel. You just pay for the day and can use the pool, gym, sauna, etc.
You can also take one or tow days and go to Sheraton Hotel in Pilar, 50 km out of Buenos Aires. It has also a swimming pool and spa.

Sorry, I meant Hilton Hotel, not Hyatt. I really donīt know if the Hyatt has a swimming pool. But Hiltonīs pool is great.

yes, sigh...the Hyatt does have a pool... a very nice pool :)

attention waternymphs mermaids and mermen,

I found the perfect place :rincondecobo.com.ar
outside of Pinemar

Unfortunately at 5500 pesos per week it is beyond our budget ( we also prefer to spend 3 or 4 days rather than a full week)

Does any one know of a less expensive version of this: houses , cabins on a beach

thanks

Andrewdavid

ps or if familiar w/ N. Queensland in Australia, villages like Palm Cove or Port Douglas

ps thanks for hotel pool suggestions, but the apartment we rented at Guatemala and Armenia claims it has a pool! so you all can come swim there if you'd like!

Try a google search for Mar de las Pampas or Carilo. Lots of bungalows and cabins in those two beaches, but donīt know if more affordable.

expertbue,
thanks for the tip. there seem to be some more affordable cabana/apartments. i take Carilo and Mar de Pampas are quieter locations than Mar del Plate and Punta del Este

That is correct, but in January....?

expertbue Sep 7th, 2007 07:22 AM

Mar de las Pampas is surely quieter than Mar del Plata since the philosophy of the place is to keep it as natural as possible(no asphalt on the streets for example). But it has become very trendy so you better make a reservation in advance because it is always sold out in January.

expertbue and avrooster, a place w/o paved streets sounds like what we are looking for. We will book early is we are heading to the beach.

Getting my fiance to commit to an itinerary is proving hard. At least w/ have plane tix and Bs As apartment so we know we are coming

cheers
