Suggestions for a quick trip to Belize
I have the opportunity to visit Belize for 5 nights in January. I would love any suggestions. I am opening to everything and I don't have any big budget restrictions. I have never been before and I can't make the trip longer. I am going to be nearby and now have this opening in my schedule.
Thanks in advance for the help. |
I'd probably choose either ruins + rainforest or reef/beach/snorkel/scuba--not sure you enough time to squeeze both in.
Really depends what you're looking for. |
We really loved Lamanai Outpost Lodge and Victoria House. Most people do a jungle/beach combination, but like RAC said, not sure if you have time for both.

One of the main attractions of Belize is the barrier reef for diving & snorkelling. For those activities, I'd suggest staying on either Ambergris Caye or Caye Caulker. AC is bigger and is more touristy, while CC is smaller and more laid-back. AC has nicer beaches if that's a factor in your decision making.
On the mainland, some of the main attractions are rain-forest, Mayan sites and caves. For those, I'd suggest staying in the town of San Ignacio or at one of the jungle lodges in the rain-forest. The best approach is to decide what you want to see & do, and then decide where to stay and for how long. |
Chaa Creek is another good option; you can go over to visit the ruins at Tikal from there. PACZ tours is good for tours.

Thank you to everyone who responded to my post. You have all given me some very good ideas. I am going to sit down with my husband tonight to make our final plans. Eventhough it will be a short visit, it will be nice to visit a new country.
