subaru service in mexico?

Does anyone know of any competent Subaru mechanics in Central Mexico?
Are Subaru parts available?
VWs have turbos and all wheel drive so perhaps a VW mechanic might be an option.
I really hate the thought of having to sell my WRX wagon with just under 15K miles as it's nearly ideal for SMdA.

I don't think I have ever seen a Subaru dealership or repair place in any part of Mexico I have been in. Friends of mine in Oaxaca have a Plymouth van in which there has never been a Mexican model. They have had good luck at a Dodge delearship. They just have to wait about a week for parts ordered from the U.S. I wonder if you couldn't do the same, as you suggest, at VW, Nissan- or any reputable repair place. I wouldn't want to get rid of that car either.

Thanks Dude,
Apparently there are a handful of Mexican World Rally Teams and maybe a Subaru one in Leon. They have world class mechanics as you might imagine. I'm still looking for help.

Hi, I stumbled upon your post 7 years after you posted it, but I was wondering if you had any success in finding a mechanic? We are moving to GTO and researching the "best" car to buy before we go

NickMac, unfortunately mikemo hasn't posted on this forum for many years...

Maybe you would want to start a new thread with a title that will attract people who live in Mexico to chime in and give you advice.

Also, try asking your question on Lonely Planet's thorntree forum. Lots of ex-pats post on the Mexico board there.

I admit that I got kind of happy when I saw this post come up, as I thought mikemo was back on this board. I miss him and his very helpful and informative Mexico info and wine info.
