Strike in Cusco/Machu Pichu

I was advised today of a possible strike in the town of Cusco on 11/12. During the strike the railway to Machu Pichu will not operate, roads may be blocked & local shops will be closed. If anyone is scheduled to be there next week you may want to check into this further & possibly change your plans.

How were you advised of this? By whom?

here is a thread on the current situation, strike planned for staerting Nov 10, and possibility of Cuzco joining in on the strike. I think this kind of situation warrants posting from across different forums and boards- it is vital re travel in the region.

Here it says the strike has been cancelled:

I work for a travel wholesaler & handle South America. The ground operator we use advised me of the possible strike. I didn't receive any updates today & hopefully the post on tripadvisor saying it's been canceled is correct.
