South America itinerary
I am trying to plan a trip from NY over the Xmas holidays. I was thinking of going from Rio to Carmello,Uruguay to the Iguazu Falls to BA and then home to NY. Anybody have any comments on the best way to do this? Where would the best place be to spend Christmas and New Years? Rio at the Meridian sounded great for New Years so maybe I should reverse the order. How many days are needed in any one place? Four Seasons at Carmello sounds wonderful. I love BA but in Dec. I think it will be beastly so I won't spend too much time there. Any comments, suggestions, ideas for itinerary are welcomed!

I think you should do Rio-Iguaçú-Carmello-BA-NY.
Rio is very big, so you need at least 3/4 days. New Year´s Eve is unique. You should try it. |
EPC not sure how long are you staying in Argentina....Ushuaia is a 3 hours flight from Buenos Aires and is beautiful and not far from there is Calafate with the wonderful glaziers...feel free to write to me for information

I'm planning a similar trip over the holidays for next year. Would you mind sending me a copy of your itinerary and lodging when you complete it? I would really appreciate it especially considering many things may be closed due to the holiday and then also where to spend New Year's as you posted. Many thanks--

For some reason Rio frightens me so I now am thinking of flying into BA going to Iguazu and then up to Bariloche. Any suggestions of itinerary and best way to go to these places? I would love to include Carmello but it seems the Four seasons is totally booked at that time. Should I be concerned about things being closed Xmas and New Years? Where is the best place to spend New Years?
As always thanks for any help in this planning! |
