Somewhere hot!

I am a 25 year old female hoping to travel this coming August....I am from Canada and am desperate to go to a country that will be hot with nice beaches, but also interesting culturally!

Any advice much appreciated :)

Mexico is broiling hot in August at all the coastal resort towns (Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Isla Mujeres, Puerto Vallarta, Cabo San Lucas, etc.) Unfortunately that's also rainy season. All offer nice beaches and also sights and sites of cultural interest.

Here's what I'd do. Choose between Puerto Escondido, San Agustin, Zipolite, Puerto Angel or Huatulco for your beach time. Then take Aerotucan to Oaxaca city for 2-3 days for your culture/ruins/food/mezcal/architecture fix. Plus, it'll be cooler.

PS. That's in Mexico. PV's waters tend to get murky during the rainy season, so I'd avoid that.

La Libertad El Salvador fits the bill on all accounts from having one of the world{s top 10 surfing beaches at El Tunco to the nearly deserted Playa San Diego.

It is also interesting culturally plus only 1-2 hr from the airport and 40 minutes from the capital, San Salvador.

Sorry baldone, but you're wrong, out water clarity increases tremendously in the summer, albeit away from river mouths. Ask the people who SCUBA here.

I wouldn't normally send anyone to Vallarta in August, but it's nothing to do with the water clarity. Just too darn hot. But this person seems to be seeking that out.
