Solo Travel
Has anyone travelled to PV or that area alone lately. I am going from April 26th to May 09th, and would appreciate any advice or tips on areas that are best suited to a person travelling alone, and where good spots are to meet some new friends who are also solo! Thanks!

Just go to Playa Los Muertos on the south side of town, beach bars there are a possibility, even more inland a bit. You'll meet lots of people. Map: http://vallartainfo.com/vallarta-southside-map.html

I traveled alone in 2010 and 2011, met some folks around the pool and at the beach. Lots of great places to eat.

Yes I travel to Puerto Vallarta (I stay right in town) every year. Have been doing so for 20 years. Most recently November 2012. I most often am solo.
I suggest you stay on the "south side" also dubbed Zona Romantica somewhere on or near Playa Los Muertos (the main public beach). I agree the beach or the pool at your hotel or apartment is the easiest place to meet people. Or even at the table next to you in a restaurant. Honestly I am more often 'adopted' by a couple, then I've met other single people, although both are easy enough to make happen. |
If you are 50 or older I would highly recommend LOs Cuatro Vientos high in the PV hills. Great view/sunsets from the El Nido roof top bar. This is where almost all of the guests along with many outsiders gather each PM for Sunset.
Also a communal breakfast makes for a excellent place to make friends, plan your day & get ideas of what to do. PV's second oldest Inn with the deepest & coldest pool in town. No Children allowed. |
