So Happy, Please help choose Mexico vaca!!!
Hi, I am so exicited, I just got the word from hubby to book whatever vacation I wanted in Mexico. I want the best all inclusive resort, maybe playa del carmen, but if you know better, just remember, all inclusive. I want good beach, good food, top liqour and we are coming from Boston, so I don't really want to go to cabo because it takes too long to get there. Cancun is a no no because of too many spring breaker kids. Last time in Playa we stayed at IBEROSTAR and we enjoyed it, but were definely tired of the food and entertainment. OK. Help us out!

Sounds like the Royal Hideaway is the spot for you!
|
Allegro Cozumel....Been there twice, and would definetly go back again and again.
|
I recommend the Riu Playacar. It is the top of the Riu hotels in Playa del Carmen, and it is very beautiful!
|
Spa Palace is the best all inclusive resort! It is brand new and absolutly beautiful. Check out our website www.get-me.to/cancun

Royal Hideaway or Riu Palace. I loved the Iberostar and like their food. The Iberostar Parasio has Mediterranian, Buffets, Mexican, Japanese and Brazilian Resturants, so a little more variety than Quetzal/Tucan.
Spa, Adventura or Xu-pha Palace might also be good choices.
Royal Hideaway is the only resort in Mexico that qualifies as a Preferred Resort.
I do not think either Allegro would be right for you, as they are not as upscale as Iberostar and the food is not as good (in my opinion, everyone likes something different.

Thanks for all your help. I have only heard good reviews of the Riu resorts, so should we go to Riu playcar, or Riu Palace. Which has the best beach, pool, food and drinks. How far is the Xu-palace and what is around there for sights. By the way, Parrott mom recomends a place called casa del mar. Anybody been there? where can we find photos. Thanks and Happy New Year to all of you. Sincerely, Kathy

Karen M....Please elaborate regarding allegro cozumel... we are interested in going next year. What did you like about the resort? Dislikes? Thanks.

Hi Kathy - I would suggest the RIU Palace. The rooms are gorgeous with a little sitting area a few steps down from the bed area and there is a fully appointed bathroom - the Palace is considered the expensive sister to the Playacar, Yucatan and Tequila in that area. Everything is top drawer here. Go to their website at riuhotels.com.
Also please feel free to email me for a trip report on these resorts and the area.
Pick the Palace or the top-top-drawer Allegro Royal Hideaway.

Hi Debbie, can't decide between Riu Palace and Riu playacar. I heard that the Riu playacar is brand new. Please tell us more and are the Riu's in walking distance of each other? If you stay at one,can you eat and drink at the others. Thanks

Kathy!
Everyone thinks Debbie works for Riu. She even sounds like it. Beware. She really works these sites.
|
I don't think Debbie works for Riu. It's just a resort that she likes. I think that Debbie is like most of us - we all have our favourites, and that's what we write about.

Debbie posts with her real e-mail address, unlike some others here.

Dear Leary - I've already made it perfectly clear to everyone that I don't work for RIU hotels - I am an insurance underwriter who lives in Toronto Canada. Do you honestly think I would make something like that up!
And yes, so I know a good resort when I see one and pardon me for talking of something that I have personal experience on. Would you feel better "Oh Cynical One" if I went onto the board and trashed the dive shop at the RIU Yucatan - my husband thought the people in the dive shop were not friendly or helpful and they were more expensive than Dressel Divers next door at the Iberostar.
In 3 weeks my husband and I are booked into the Iberostar Paraiso for one week and then one week at Iberostar in Cozumel.
So when I answer questions about the IB, am I going to be accused of changing jobs?
