I agree with comments about not moving around too much. You have to decide what it is that your really want to see. Nature? Wildlife? Beach? Nightlife? On our last trip, the biggest downside was traveling, which took too much time and we ran into heavy rain while driving in July. Because of that, and because of clouds covering Arenal, I would have skipped the Arenal part. Relaxing on the beach was the best part. We went to Manuel Antonio--yes, it is not on the beach,so you can't just get up and walk there, but you've got stunning views looking down onto the ocean and forests if you're staying on the hill outside of the park. I have to say that we LOVED the cloud forest. This time, we're staying near Alajuela for part of the trip and day-tripping to Bosque de Paz cuz we've heard it less touristy, beautiful, awesome wildlife-viewing, and gives the cloud forest experience. I found it fascinating to see how different the lowland rain forest was from the cloud forest. A guide will help point it out. Anyway, on this trip, since we've already seen Manuel Antonio, we're then heading for 5 days in Montezuma to check out Nicoya, which seems to have accessible restaurants and lovely beaches, waterfalls and less touristy/ crowded than Tamarindo??? You'll have an awesome time, no matter what, but I definitely think that you should minimize drive time and moving around too much.....
