snorkeling mayan riviera

What are some of the best snorkeling sites in the mayan riviera. Tour info would be great! Thanks.

Contact Gustavo at Falcon Tours in Playa del Carmen. The tour reps in the lobby of your hotel will be able to put you in touch with him, especially the Olympus (Olympia) reps.

Gustavo can take you to the beautiful Yal ku Lagoon and to Akumal to see the sea turtles. If you plan to snorkel buy some biodegradable sunscreen before you leave home, it is very pricy there.

You can rent a car and visit the locations mentioned above. You don't need a tour to do it.

I agree with pepper. Those locations are great, but you can easily do it yourself. Also look into Puerto Morelos.

Exactly, you don't need a tour to do any of the excursions most people do and not going with the tour means you get to do everything on your own time and at your own pace rather than with sixty or so of your closest friends. (or whatever the bus holds). Do an internet search, look at locogringo.com which had a great snorkeling description awhile back with a map of Akumal Bay and what you could expect to see in all the different sections. Also Tankah Tres has excellent snorkeling (rent a kyack at the Tankah Inn or Casa Cenote). Reading the different boards helps a lot with knowing where to go and what to do.
