Take a drive to Akumal and snorkel Yal-Ku Lagoon and Dos Ojos Cenote. Dos Ojos was incredible! Recommend hiring an experienced tour guide who can provide under water flashlights & wet suits and has intimate knowledge of Dos Ojos.

I thought there was good snorkling in the bay where Sirenis is built...just make sure you don't get run over by a jet-ski.
Yalku is very near Sirenis.

From Playa you can take a ferry to Cozumel. One of my all time fav spots to snokel/dive!

yal-ku is fabulous. go when they open at 8:30 for best clarity and least ppl. mind the steps as they may be very slippery.
i also highly recommend xel-ha. again go early. i don't advice you do the river raft - the tube thing is quite uncomfortable after a few minutes and you can't see any fish, but you can snorkel it. the lagoon is fantastic. the helmut dive is worth while - you can touch a ray. i advice you spend the day here as there's loads to do. buy the allinclusive ticket - you get a larger locker and UNlimited dry towels, food and drinks including alcohol. this is a very low key park. if you want more stuff and glitz try x-caret.
we saw 2+ foot parrot fish at yal-ku and xel-ha, as well as huge tangs, angels, and friendly packs of sargent majors met us at the entry steps everywhere. out by the floating bridge in xel-ha look for the 4-5' fish lurking around.
none of these places allow normal sunscreen. when you go to your first place buy one of their containers of sunscreen - they all sell the identical product. it is a bit more than buying the regular kind at wal-mart, but they are trying so hard to protect their fish and water unlike so many places. or you can always wear a t-shirt.
cenotes are everywhere in this area, but we did not go to any. hidden worlds looked interesting.,
if you have any interest in ruins check out the tiny ones across from the entrance to xel-ha. wear bug spray - a lot of it, and watch out for the ant highways. you can actually touch these buildings, which you will not be able to do at tulum or probably at xel-ha ruins in a few more years. anyway there are still visible drawings on the building closest to the highway.
have a great trip
