Snorkel offshore in Belize
 

Can anybody give me a good area where I can snorkel everyday near my hotel without having to travel too far. My sole purpose in going there is to relax on a decent beach and snorkel amist coral and fish. Any good suggestions on a hotel or area I can visit?

Depends on where you're going in Belize. I have a house there, on Ambergris Caye. Tell me where you're going, and I can answer any questions you might have.

I don't know where I am going yet, because I don't know which area's have the best snorkeling. So any help or advice you can give would be appreciated.

The forum is divided in sections (traveling to, accomodations, general etc.). there's a section just on scuba diving and someon there will have your answer. keep in mind that there's very little shore snorkeling of interest in belize unless you're staying on one of the atolls such as Glover's reef. there may be some from Placencia but I don't recall there really being any of interest off Ambergris or Caye Caulker - the reef is out a ways and generally reached by boat.

i think you'll want to spend some time out at glover's, southwater or tabacco. you don't have great snorkeling off the beach at ambergris, caulker or placentia. you can still see things but you need to take a boat out to the reef. i'd split my time between one of the quieter cayes for snorkeling and then placentia or ambergris.
