Shout-out to Owlwoman
Hi Owlwoman,
thought you might like to know that we're probably headed back to Argentina, this time with the kids and visiting the Lake District. Only have flights to and from BA on hold at this point. I think you're heading down there again sometime. Where are you going??
My original idea was Iguazu coming from Brazil, but am a bit nervous with the mosquitoes and the heat (going over Christmas), and the possibility of infectious diseases (which would scare my kids alot).
Let me know if you have any ideas for us.
I'm also toying with the idea of returning to the northwest with them, but probably will go to the Lake District, so DH and I can see something new.
Regards, Skatedancer

I'm obviously not Owlwoman (LOL!!), but I feel our Southern Lakes District is a great choice in late December, for you, your DH and the kids.
Iguazú would be a good idea, particularly during our winter and the NW is nice anytime, but better at the present time of the year.
Anyway, you'll have a great time in our country with your family.

Hi skatedancer!
Sorry I missed you in NY, I had lunch w/Patrick the Wed. before you met him and Lee at the West End Cafe, we were heading down to DC on vacation that day, so couldn't get down to meet you there...it would have been fun!
Anyway, if you haven't been to Iguazu, you shouldn't pass it up, it's such an amazing place, even if you only do it for one night. I never worried about the mosquitos, etc, we've lived to tell our tales! We were there in mid-March and it was hot though.
Anyway, we have also been to Bariloche, which is lovely, reminded me of Switzerland. We splurged and stayed at the Llao Llao, which is about 10 miles from DT Bariloche. It's an amazing property. We didn't have a change to go to St. Martin de los Andes or Villa Angostora, which I also hear are beautiful. I don't think you can go wrong with either place.
We're thinking of another trip, if we do go again, it won't be until late Feb. early March when I really need to escape the ravages of winter, thinking of going back to the Lake District and would definitely go to El Calafate to see the AR glaciers.
Hope to meet you one of these days....
Pam
P.S. I am very excited that you are going back to AR, it is an addictive country!

To be honest, I'm giving myself a nervous breakdown over this trip!!
Hard to figure out what's best when we've got the kids to consider. I'm deciding between a Brazilian and an Argentinian itinerary. One issue, among several, is that we really only want to do one domestic flight, so if we do Iguazu we really can't do the Lake District, too. Really more a matter of stress and fatigue regarding the extra flights. Trying to have an interesting, yet also relaxing trip.
If we go to Brazil, we can do Iguazu, because we would fly in and out of Sao Paolo, drive to a beach, and then on to Rio before Iguazu. The first thing my kids asked me about, though, was mosquitoes!! Just worried that if it's a buggy trip all around, then we'll have some miserable travelers on our hands!
We're also doing part of this on FF miles, so got to lock those flights in before they disappear!!
I keep going back and forth on which country to do, and then deciding how important it is to get up to Iguazu! (Good thing I really enjoy travel planning, because I do drive myself nuts in the process.

I don't remember Iguazu as being that buggy, also, the kids would probably love the boat trip that goes "into" the falls, it was quite a ride. What's nice about Iguazu is that it's compact, stay at the Sheraton in the park, then everything is right outside your front door. Don't have to worry about driving around at all. Just another thought!
