Should we fly from San Jose to Quepos or Palmar Sud?
 

We are headed to Bahia Ballena in May and considering flying instead of driving from San Jose, which we did last time.
Would it be best to fly into Quepos or Palmar Sur ? (seems there are more flights into Quepos but the drive to Bahia Ballena longer)

Hi Gabi, I'm asking myself the same question, as I'm travelling to that area myself next February. If you fly into Palma Sur, you avoid that "rough patch" of road from Quepos to Dominical. I have heard varying reports on that road, someone on this forum recently travelled it and said it wasn't too bad as they have been doing a lot of work on it. Would appreciate feedback from others who have driven it, and their opinions on this topic.

I would fly into Palmar Sur myself, much closer to your hotel. The downside is they usually only have 1-2 flights a day.

did the Quepos Dominical atrocity in July...

doable BUT not fun...no point to flying to Quepos

then pay to do that when you can fly in closer.
