Should I get my Passport stamped at Machu Pichu?
I have read that it is possible to get an entry stamp in a passport when you enter Machu Pichu.
I never refuse a stamp in my passport, and sometimes I have requested an entry stamp at the Immigration Checkpoint/Border.
I have always considered the different stamps in my passport to representative of different countries. I consider Machu Pichu part of Peru, and not a country.
How do fodorites feel about this subject?
Should I get a stamp in my passport when I enter Machu Pichu?
I debating what to do.
Thanks.

I've never bothered for the same reasons you describe, but if you want to, then I'd get the stamp. The lines were also long. The person who takes your entrance ticket is not the one who stamps passports. It's a little office off to the side, and I noticed most people who get the stamp do it on their way out.
They also stamp your passport when you enter the Galapagos. That's not optional. They just do it. It's the same thing though: You haven't entered another country when you fly from mainland Ecuador.

Machu Pichu, no, and we did not.
Galapagos, yes, and I did.
Since I am a member of the Travelers Century Club, I thought it may be useful to have proof my visit to the Galapagos, which the TCC counts as a separate destination. But, to me, getting a stamp at MP is no different than getting one at the Nazca Lines or the Taj Mahal.
But, if you want it as a memory, by all means. Its up to you.
