Should I book Cano Negro in advance?
The plans are all laid down, now I afraid I am overplanning. Is it necessary to book Cano Negro in advance or is there always room?
Will we get a better deal online or from the hotel? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks, JAS |
We just booked our tour with Sunset Tours the first day we got to our hotel; the hotel made all the arrangements for us. We had tried to book with Sunset online and never heard back from them; going through the hotel made it really convenient, and we had no problems booking the day we wanted.

I guess I lucked out. Had no trouble booking that trip with Sunset online.
The prices seem to be the same regardless of where you book. But who you book, may not be who you get. If one of the tours gets just a couple of people, they send them with another firm that has more. Keith |
Thanks for the responses. I guess I'll stop planning and wait until we get there to do tours.
So far it's: - two nights at the Peace Lodge - Four nights in the Arenal area - Five nights in Playa Hermosa Can't wait to get there. One more question regarding food: Does Tico food tends towards spicy (as in hot), or is it more bland? I have an intolerance for spicy(hot). Thanks |
bland.

UJ, extremely bland I would say. Most of the meals are grilled chicken or beef, with rice/beans, and plantains. The breakfasts we've had at our hotels have usually been very Americanized - eggs, pancakes, fresh fruit, etc. The one thing you will always see is beans and rice - even at breakfast. We liked all the food we had, but we never saw anything spicy, more like comfort food.
