Short romantic trip suggestion from Mexico City

Folks, My wife and I are celebrating our 25th anniversary:-) I'm going to be in Mexico City for work in early August en route to Buenos Aires We'd like to find a place in Mexico or close by that I can get to easily from Mexico City and my wife can get to from Vermont for a 5-6 day getaway Aug 10-15 . I know it's August but we're not too into hot or crowded or glitzy. We like eco-friendly, wildlife , romantic and quiet Any suggestions ? Thanks !

Perhaps San Miguel de Allende. Not much wildlife, nor necessarily eco-friendly, but this time of year its pretty quiet, cool, and plenty of spas, B&B's, or boutique hotels. Some nice restaurants as well. Less than 4 hours from DF by car or bus, and an hour or so from the Queretaro airport. You could pick her up at the QRO airport on the way from DF. I suppose you could include Tequisquiapan and/or Bernal. Or Pozos and Guanajuato.

Malinalco! Two hours from Mexico City, beautiful small town surrounded by mountains. Aztec ruins, great market, nice restaurants & hotels. Lots of info on google.

Guanajuato. Very beuatiful and very romantic. What other city has a Street of Kisses?

About 30-45 minutes from the BJX airport.

I enjoyed my stay at the Hotel Luna on the Zocalo, but there are plenty of B&Bs that might be more romantic.

I also very much enjoyed Queretaro. Fantastic hotel there called La Casa de La Marquesa.

San Miguel - I was there for 2 nights and couldn't wait to leave. Strange vibe - as though posh Americans had taken over the town. And the world's ugliest church.

And don't discount mexico City itself - plenty to do and plenty of beautiful and interesting areas.

I'd vote for Guanajuato too---I just spent a year living there! Maybe a stop in San Miguel de Allende to do a little shopping and get lunch, then Queretaro and/or Mineral de Pozos.

Or if she's flying into Mexico City too, spend a couple nights there and then follow Jim's suggestion above! Detailed reviews of the best luxue hotels (including Mexico City) here:
