Selva Verde question

It seems that Selva Verde now offers a house / suite to stay in. It is near the learning center. I looked at a map and it looks like it is pretty close to the road. Do you think it will be very noisy from traffic? The house does have glass windows and AC, which potentially can help with white noise.

That road doesn't get that much traffic--our main issue was dodging all of the bicyclists on it.

Thank you, that helps. I will try the suite then. Two bedrooms and a washer and a drier sound awfully good.

We saw quite a few big trucks on the road, and they were noisy. It's funny how different people's experiences are. That does sound really nice though.

We are noise sensitive so I am sure we will hear some noise. But hopefully the glass windows and the AC will help? What do you think? A dryer and a washer sound so nice :) And the AC! And having the kids in a different room!

On the other hand, if you get a room close to the river, you'll hear that instead of the road.

Suite looks nice, but (warning: personal opinion/taste assertion coming up) our preference is to stay in rooms that are more integrated into the natural surroundings rather than shutting them completely out. If you're enclosed behind glass and running the AC, you're not hearing the frogs and the birds and other sounds of the jungle, you're not smelling the heliconias, etc. It's part of the experience.

We usually just pay for the lodge to do laundry when traveling.

We were glad we stayed in a river room vs. staying in one of the air conditioned bungalows after we got there and saw them, but wow the suite looks really nice. I can see wanting to have a little more space when you're traveling with young children. That would be the biggest benefit I can see.

RAC, I certainly understand your point. But in reality only traffic noise will bother me. Having glass windows will be OK :)

Of course, I can live without a washer and dryer but they are a plus.

I will ask the husband. Maybe he will have a strong opinion one way or the other.

River rooms also have those wonderful balconies and hammocks, from which you can see wildlife-we saw a gorgeous black-throated trogon from ours.

The suite does look nice though-and two bedrooms is compelling . . .

alisa23 Sep 30th, 2015 07:42 AM

The suite apparently has a deck, facing the river. With a hammock and chairs. But I don't know if wildlife will be scared by traffic.

My husband was not of much help. He is also indecisive! Maybe that means that we should go to BdC or La Paloma instead :)

Oh no, alisa - no more options for you!

I forgot to mention that we saw a lot of frogs at Selva Verde, tons of poison dart frogs and some nice red-eyed ones in the little pond. Your kids would probably enjoy seeing those. We did a guided hike in the reserve and a night hike. We saw a kinkajou on the bridge. The deck sounds nice. I can't wait to hear how your trip goes.

Generally, the closer to the road, the less wildlife. But, there was a sloth in Selva Verde's parking lot when we visited. And you'll see parrots in trees right at roadside.

I think you'll be fine in the suite.

Volcanogirl, I hear you. I am tired of options :) Selva Verde it is! Yes, I am excited about all the frogs.

RAC, thank you :)
