Scuba AND a resort?
Can anybody recommend one? My wife wants a really nice 'hangin' out' resort and I want to do some scuba. We did not like Aruba, St. Martin, Jamaica. Loved Mayan Coast. Never been to Costa Rica ... should we go? Thanks.

Check out Ramon's in Belize. Or Banyan Bay. The diving will be better than Costa Rica...

The best diving in Costa Rica is supposed to be at Cano Island. I don't know of any resort type places around there if you're thinking of Cancun or Guanacaste type places. (That doesn't mean there aren't any.) But you can stay anywhere from Dominical to the Osa and do a day trip to Cano Island. Lots of cool jungle type lodges to stay at...

I did 2 dives at Cano Island in Dec 04. They were fabulous. The water temp was 28-29 degrees centigrade. I was expecting a so so dive and it ended up being one of my favorites. There are no reefs in the area. No resident fish all transients. On one dive we watched 11 white tip reef sharks hang out. We were staying in Drake Bay I dove with Pirate Cove. They also have accommodations. They were full so we didn't stay there but the rooms looked quite nice. It is rustic and not much else to do for your wife unless she enjoys untouched beach and jungle filled with birds, monkeys...A hiking trip into Corcovado Park is a must if go.

There are some resorts on the northern Pacific coast of Costa Rica where your wife could hang out...and you could do a dive from there to Bat or Catalina Islands.

Lots of places like that in Belize on Ambergris Caye, in Placencia, Hopkins, all close to great local reef and/or atoll diving.
