Sayulita in September

Anyone ever been to Sayulita in Sept? Daughter considering getting married there. We hear it can be hot, humid and many stores close.

Your experience?

Sayulita is having horrible issues right now with people getting really sick. Hop on over to the Sayulita forum on Trip Advisor. It's a fairly serious situation.

And yes Aug/Sept IS the rainy season in the area. The very hottest, most humid, months of the year with the heaviest rainfall.

I adore Puerto Vallarta and vacation there twice a year, but a September wedding in Sayulita is NOT anything I can recommend at the moment.

Yikes Suze- that novo virus sounds terrible. Have that have been in Sayulita recently but they did not mention any concerns.

They are back in PV now so emailed them to hear if they know anything.

I have two sets of friends who vacationed in Sayulita in the past few months.

One group (girlfriend trip) everyone was OK but they said they were careful. But they were surfing, in the ocean, eating at local places.

The other group (a family of 6) 5 people became sick within the first couple days.

But to me between... *wedding* & *September* & *Sayulita* just seeing some potential red flags
:-(

September weddings are best inland. Such as Guadalajara, Guanajuato, San Miguel ot Mexico City.
Great weather, Great cities, fab hotels & restaurants!
PS We honeymooned in Guadalajara's Quito Real Hotel in July 1998 having a great time!

Coincidentally, that last time I was in PV (same as Sayulita for weather) was for a September wedding. It was downright fugly. Any beach area near foothills gets nasty runoff from the rains. Many rural mountainous areas dump raw sewage into the rivers that drain in the bays. Couple that with Sayulita's well-documented sewage problems, well, you get my drift.

I saw posted yesterday on TA a list of beach pollution stats and Sayulita was #2 bad, worse than Veracruz (a commercial port with a longstanding negative reputation)!
