Wow- what are the chances of 2 posts coming in at exactly 8:01? Great advice Tully!

We'll definitely put La Selva on our to do list then. They have tours at 5:45 a.m. specialized for birding and then regular tours that start at 8:00 a.m.. Do you think we'd see about the same things at each time?

I was looking at Selva Verde's activities list, and I couldn't find free birding tours in the morning. They offer them, but it looks like they're charging now unless I'm missing something. I'm sure it's still worth it even if they charge. We're on a mission to see toucans.

Funny artiejay, we just about posted the same thing too!

vg yeah, I just looked and maybe they don't offer the free tour anymore. But $15 is pretty good I think. You could fit in the early bird tour at SV, grab a quick bite to eat then still make the am hike at La Selva. Didn't do the birding tour at La Selva but I do remember on our tour we did see a lot of birds. Funny you mention toucans, I love them too but at Bosque del Cabo they are so numerous (and so loud) I often mutter at them to be be quiet so I can hear other things!

Thanks, tully - that sounds like a good plan! We did not see a lot of toucans at BdC. We had Carlos out on the hunt for us one morning because we hadn't seen any. He couldn't believe it. Of course back then we didn't know what they sounded like; they are so noisy when you know what to listen for!
