santiago. car rental questions. help!
 

we will be staying in barrio universitario, which (i think) is near the center of santiago. we want to rent a car on the outskirts of the city (as i hate driving in big foreign cities), to go towards the mountains, or to vina, for a day. any ideas as to where to rent a car?

The airport is the obvious place. I found it easy to get in and out of. There is a small toll to leave the airport by car.

We rented a car at the Santiago Sheraton. There is a Budget office in the hotel and the hotel is next to the tunnel to the freeway that goes to the airport and Vina. We did not have to drive in the city at all.

It takes about 30-40 minutes to any hotel in Santiago.
