Santiago Budget Hotels
Hello,
Can anybody recommend any good budget hotels in Santiago. I am travelling there in January alone and only require a respectable hotel that is convenient, safe, clean and has it's own bathroom. Thanks in advance Jeff |
There are more budget hotels in the downtown area than Providencia or Las Condes. By budget, do you mean around US$90 or are you looking for less?
|
I do not know if this helps you or not, I noticed that many Chilean hotels have a senior rate.
|
Hello,
Thanks for the replies. I was hoping to get a hotel between $50 - $70 a night, is this possible ?? Unfortunately I am not old enough to qualify for a senior rate. Thanks in advance Jeff |
Never feel sorry you aren't eligible for a senior discount! Yes, you can find something in your price range. The hotel will probably be old but clean. Most of them do not have websites. I have had a quick look on the internet but you might spend longer to confirm contact info.
Hotel Santa Lucia, beside the Sta. Lucia hill, hotel is actually 4 floors up. Fax should be 56-2-6331844 Hotel Paris, in the lovely cobblestoned oasis off the Alameda, phones 56-2-6640921 or 56-2-6394037. The Montecarlo, also by the Sta Lucia hill, a bit 60s on the decor but OK. Not sure about a website. Two nice ones are the Ciudad de Vitoria, starts 7 floors up in a building, would be the top end of your price range, has it's own good restaurant. www.ciudaddevitoria.cl The other is the Andes Hostel, although a hostel for the most part, it does have some private rooms with bath and is very well located. www.andeshostel.com |
you may want to try Hotel Aloha Sol ...it is right on Calle Sol accross from a Pizza Hut and near the Calle Sol shops. If I remember correctly they offer about $60. And I think that includes breakfast in their loby restaurant. AC, hot water, nice, clean rooms.
the web site is Hotel Aloha Sol |
Hi there. Thought I didn't recognise the name of the Aloha Sol. That is in the Dominican Republic. I think, and hope, the OP and I are talking about Santiago, Chile. :-) Jeff??
|
Hi,
Not sure what you mean by "OP" but the city I am talking about is Santiago in Chile. Thanks Again Jeff |
I was doing some reseach about lodgings in Santiago. Andes Hostel seems to be highly rated. Unfortunately I was not able to book them on both nights I wanted.
I wound reserving by using my Senior discount at the Best Western Los Espanoles. One place that I ran across is a B&B in Providencia, Casa Newen www.casanewen.com They didn't have a single room for my nights but they did reply promptly to an email. They offered a queen for $60.000 CLP. Cash only. Their reviews on Tripadisor and photos were promising, but it did seem a bit far from a Metro (not a problem if you take taxis, though). |
What about staying at a B&B. On the web they seem quite reasonable, some even in the $25-$50 range. Check Trip Advisor.

Thanks very much to everbody for all the replies. You have been really helpful.
