San Paulo, Brazil
During the last 10 days of March, my husband and I would like to travel out of san paulo and back. Any recommendation toward fantastic areas that include nature, culture and the like? Laying on the beach is not our style and we are not into fancy accomodations. What would you recommend be our itinerary? Anything that would not require flying to and from san paulo? We have already been to Rio and do not want to go there at this point. Please let me know and many thanks in advance

hi, have you been to parati and the area around there, lots of walks, waterfalls, lovely colonial town, you could also visit Embu das artes. Let me know where you've been and I;ll try to help.

That is very kind of you. Yes, I have been to Parati, Isla Grande and Rio. Any suggestion would be appreciated.

For beaches: Maresias, Sao Sebastiao (2 hours drive from Sao Paulo)
For mountains: Campos do Jordao (1h30 from SP) |
For great a great cultural experience, I really enjoyed Salvador. Wonderful music and people in a beautiful old city that is a mix of African, Latin, and European traditions. Beaches are nearby; you could even spend a few days on Morro de Sao Paolo.

I should have added that obviously, you'd need to fly to Salvador, but there should be frequent flights from SP.

Embu das Artes is lovely indeed. Campos do Jordão (they call it The Brazilian Switzerland) is perfect to go to during their winter times (Jul-Sep). There are also Santa Bárbara do Oeste, where they have the healing thermal waters.
