Never knew any of this, other than the existence of the tours which I've never bothered to take. Might have to before we move to Queretaro. Anyway, I thought it kinda interesting.

I just wanted to wish you welcome to nearby Queretaro, where I vastly improved my Spanish at a language institute and called home for part of the summers of 2015 and 2016. I hope you grow to love the city as much as I did!

Thanks for some of the interesting trivia about San Miguel de Allende, where I sadly have only enjoyed for one afternoon.

This is one city (among many still) I want to visit in Mexico.

Have you read the wonderful book by Tony Cohan titled "On Mexican Time". It was published in 2001 so I am sure some things in the city have changed since then but it is a great autobiographical look as his & his wife's move to that city from L.A.

Coincidentally, I picked up that book in an airport bookstore on our first trip to San Miguel. Another fun 'expat moves to Mexico and builds a house' book is 'Gringos in Paradise'.

Having built a home in Mexico, I can relate to both experiences to a large degree.
Indeed, a visit to this part of Mexico should be on every Mexico-phile's bucket list. Queretaro, Guanajuato, Dolores Hidalgo and San Miguel all have so much history.

Baldone, I have that book and read it years back. I really enjoyed it. It was well written and interesting.

Have been going to Mexico for a long time but do not recall being so exited about discovering a city such as this one. Yes, we will be in SMA this winter and will definitely read up on it and be fully prepared to visit. This destination was on our wish list but thanks to you baldone, we will be moving it up to a must do this coming winter...
