San Jose to Manuel Antonio NP

At the end of a 13 day booked tour of Costa Rica, we would like to extend it a few days (2? 3?) by going to see Manuel Antonio NP. I would like suggestions on how to get there. It looks like we would have to stay in Quepos. We are in our 70s and prefer not to drive. Thanks!

We would be going from San Jose!

It is approximately a 3 hour drive from San Jose to Quepos. If you want to hire a driver, you could ask your San Jose hotel to recommend someone.

You can also fly out of the San Jose International Airport directly to the Quepos airport. The flight will be in a small plane with excellent visibility of the landscape.

My husband and I are in our 80s and we drive most everywhere in Costa Rica. When we give up a rental car and need to get to another location, we frequently hire a driver we have called upon many times. His name is William Vargas and can be reached at [email protected] or by telephone at 50688462914. He is an excellent driver, speaks good English and is quite a nice person. If you decide to contact him, tell him I recommended him. That will make him feel good!

Why do you have to stay in Quepos? There are plenty if hotels in MA.

Thanks, That is good to know! I assumed Quepos, however I first wanted to make sure I could get there!

Carol, thank you for the information - especially about the driver.

We have a favorite place that we really like - Tulemar Bungalows if you want to check it out. They have their own beach and lots of wildlife on site. We saw monkeys and sloths right on the property. Lots of good open air restaurants in walking distance. Quepos is the more industrial area. Most tourists stay along the road going toward MA park. We usually hire private drivers through our hotels when we reserve them. The road to MA is in pretty good shape though.
