san jose del cabo to Todo Santos

Is it possible to do this on the bus? Would we have to change buses in Cabo San lucas? trying to decide if this would even be worth the effort. Thanks!

Is it possible to do this on the bus?

I'm sure it's possible since most residents don't have private vehicles.

Would we have to change buses in Cabo San lucas?

Either Cabo or La Paz. Dunno how to check the local bus schedules though.

trying to decide if this would even be worth the effort.

You can rent a small car at the San Jose airport for as little as $30/day and drive to TS in about 2 hours ... not a lot to do in Todos Santos without a car. (Come to think of it there's not a lot to do in Todos Santos WITH a car either )

Pat, looks like this is easier than I thought ... thanks to a friend in Cabo I found this link ...

http://www.todossantos.cc/questions.html ... and if you poke around on it a bit you can find this answer to the Q of getting to TS from San Jose del Cabo airport via bus, which looks like it cost around $20 when the guy wrote this up ... I think it would help to have a little Spanish booking the bus, but maybe the clerk speaks enough English to get by.

There are plenty of taxis for hire when you exit baggage claim/customs at the San Jose airport. The price to Todos Santos would likely be in the $150 to $200 range and you should set the price before you take off. The alternative is to take a taxi collectivo (about $12) to the San Jose bus station, then take the next bus to Todos Santos (about $8). Busses run until 9:00 PM, and it takes about 2 hours. The busses are usually clean and comfortable. You can find a taxi colllectivo once you clear customs, just checkout the sales counters and ask for the taxi collectivo. All these folks speak English, and you can pay in dollars or pesos.

When are you going? They're in quite a mess right now cleaning up from Henriette.

Usually the busses and planes are running a day or so after a storm like Henrietta ... we were there in the mid-90's shortly after a tremendous flood with IIRC 23 inches of rain washed out every bridge between Cabo and San Jose, and they simply built dirt bypasses around all the washes ... took about twice as long to get to Cabo but everything was still up and running. All the bridges built since then are much larger and higher to keep from flooding out.
