Safety in Chicxulub???

We're renting a house on the water in Chicxulub and were wondering if the area is safe? We are also driving from Cancun - what should we expect?

We are considering this as well. What have you found out so far? We are a family of 6.

Chicxulub is a small fishing village close to Progreso. It is a family-oriented town, typical of Yucatan, and I believe it's very safe. (I live in Telchac Puerto east of town.) Like any place else, don't leave valuables lying around. Don't leave your camera in an open car, etc. Just the normal precautions. You can read more about staying safe in the area at http://www.yucatantoday.com/culture/...sul-6-05_1.htm
