Safe to drive in Cabo?

We are a family of 6 and traveling to Cabo over Thanksgiving. We would like to rent a car, getting cabs etc, can be hard with 6 people and we want to stick together. Does anyone have any insight to driving in Cabo? Is it safe, is there anything special we should consider? The villa we are staying in is in the Pedregal area. We would be traveling mostly from there to the beach and restaurants.

We always rent a car. Makes it handy to drive to dinner, excursions or fishing trips. We are going next month and will once again have a car. We rent from Cactus Car, who quotes rates with all the required Mexican liability insurance.

As far as traffic, just be patient and pay attention.

We also have been to Cabo twice and have rented a car both times from Cactus. We like to stay in San Jose del Cabo because its quieter but we do drive back and forth. Easy.
