Road maps for Costa Rica?

Wondering if there are websites like Mapquest that will provide driving directions between locations in Costa Rica?

Hi Faye,

Although it is not nearly as extensive as Mapquest or similar, this map is a good start. It gives an idea of routing and drive times between various locations.

Thanks Raquel, this is a great resource! We leave Thursday so Faye's question came at a good time.

Download this PDF Atlas for $5:

Best $5 we spent for the trip. There are roads on there that are not on any print map we've seen. Incredibly detailed and useful, and it his local street maps for Manuel Antonio, La Fortuna, Monteverde, San Jose, Heredia, and Alajuela.

Thanks! We are renting a car, and most likely will have a GPS, but still concerned about the route from Alajuela SJO airport to Arenal. What's the best route to take?

Faye, you are in luck, this is a very simple drive. Take the Interamerican (there at the airport) west to the San Ramon exit (about 30 or 40 min). Drive through San Ramon, and follow the volcano signs! The road is generally in very good condition. Takes about 2.5-3 hours.
