Riviera Maya weather next week

Hi! I am traveling to Riviera Maya next week 7/17-7/23 and am so excited! I'm getting really nervous though because it shows its going to storm every day next week :( has anyone had any experience with rain there? Is it likely that it would be raining all day/ and all night? And has anyone done fun things in the area while it is raining?

I give this advice almost daily on the Puerto Vallarta forum at Trip Advisor. Don't look at the weather forecast before your trip!! Just go!

It is highly unlikely for it to rain "all day/and all night" unless there was a specific storm that blew in.

There will be plenty of sun too. Plus it's still hot, do whatever you were going to do if it wasn't raining (well except work on your tan, and do remember to get out of the pool if there's thunder/lightening!).

Look at webcams, ignore written forecasts. It will not rain all day and night unless a tropical depression moves into the area (only happened to me once for 3 days in Costa Rica). Here is a cam for Tulum:

Yes, it definitely rains in the Riviera Maya, and has done so at some point in all but one of my half-dozen-or-so trips. I was there (Cancun) most recently for about two weeks in March/April, and we had several days of either all day or mostly rain. Forecasts are notoriously unreliable, in my experience, which makes it difficult to plan excursions (which are usually quite expensive and most if not all of which are ruined by the rain). Shopping is a great rainy day activity, with several indoor/outdoor shopping malls in Cancun and Fifth Avenue in Playa del Carmen.

They can't even forecast the weather here in the USA accurately for the next day so don't worry about what is being predicted for next week.
Our experience in the Riviera Maya has been showers that can last from a few minutes to a few hours. We have never had an entire day of rain, but then we don't go this time of year.

I guess it depends on what your plans are going to be. We were recently planning on going to Maya beach and decided against it because of the weather. We've had a lot of strange weather this year.
We ended up going inland Mx instead. One of the reasons is that we wanted to swim with whale sharks and do some diving. We don't want to be out on the water in T-storms or heavy winds.
That said, the predicted wind conditions don't seem to be too bad on the days you mentioned. It also looks like they're only predicting a few T-Storms. Light rain generally goes away quickly.
You can always hit some of the cenotes if the conditions on the water aren't so good.

Online weather forecasts for the Rivieria Maya ALWAYS predict rain. If you wait for a time when they predict all sun you'll never get there.

All day rains are a rarity this time of year.
